Casio And Nigel Sylvester Present Second Collaboration Watch

New York City based professional BMX rider, Nigel Sylvester and iconic lifestyle watch brand, Casio G-Shock, have teamed up once again to offer a second installation of their partnership, with the GD101NS-1 timepiece. Unlike Sylvester’s first signature watch, which was composed of a white band, case and watch dial, his new timepiece pays tribute to the streets he rides with an all black body along with chrome detailing.

“After international success with our initial collaboration in 2012, we have once again created a timepiece that stays true to G-Shock’s brand ethos of toughness and durability while not compromising the style and the aesthetic that both G-Shock and Nigel Sylvester have become known for throughout the world,” says Shigenori Itoh, CEO of Casio America.

With a matte-black body embellished with a high-gloss safari print on the lower band and infused with G-Shock’s renowned technologies, this timepiece pays homage to both the past and the present. A black stainless steel case back, configured with black screws, offers a unique design feature rarely seen with G-Shock. Chrome detailing provides a polished face for this clean and sharp timepiece. To add further authenticity each watch has his signature engraved on the case back and the packaging also features his hashtag, #popawheeliefresh.

“For this G-Shock collaboration, I pulled inspiration from what’s going on in my life, the things around me, and especially my city,” explains G-Shock brand ambassador, Nigel Sylvester. “Safari print is [part of] the concrete jungle that we’ve come to know as NYC; one of the hardest places to navigate. But throughout my life, I’ve found that my bike has served as the best tool to take this jungle... one pedal at a time.”

“For this G-Shock collaboration, I pulled inspiration from what’s going on in my life, the things around me, and especially my city,” explains G-Shock brand ambassador, Nigel Sylvester.

When asked about his design influence for his collaboration G-Shock, Nigel Sylvester explained, “Chrome is a staple for freestyle BMX. When I think of chrome, I think of something loud, exciting, and electrifying.” He continues by saying, “Black is powerful and is my favorite color, I associate it with many significant parts of my life; it’s a reminder of the streets I ride on. I also see black as an outcast and as a youth I sometimes felt this way because BMX and its culture weren’t always accepted as it is today.”

The GD101NS-1 maintains the superior G-Shock technology including shock resistance, 200M water resistance, auto LED (Super Illuminator) light, world time (31TZ/48Citites+UTC), 5 independent alarms, 1/100th second stopwatch, countdown timer, 12/24 hour formats and mute function. Not to mention, a 7-year battery life.

The GD101NS-1 comes in Nigel Sylvester special commemorative packaging and will be available in March 2013 for $130 at Macy's, independent jewelers, fashion boutiques, and www.gshock.com.
